For over 60 years, the electric cooperatives of Illinois have given tomorrow’s leaders the opportunity to learn from today’s public officials. CMEC is on the hunt for outstanding students to represent our cooperative at the Youth Day in Springfield and the Youth Tour to Washington! The events are coordinated by the Association of Illinois Cooperatives (AIEC).

Youth Day in Springfield – March 25th, 2026
Get a firsthand look at democracy in action! Meet your elected representatives during the Illinois Electric Cooperative Youth Day at the State Capitol and tour the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.
The day’s activities will include touring the State Capitol complex, visiting legislators and a luncheon. Transportation to Springfield will be provided by CMEC.
Youth Tour to Washington – June 15-22, 2026
Two selected winners will represent CMEC and spend a week in our nation’s capital visiting historic sites, touring some of our most moving memorials, and browsing the campus of our nation’s capital. They will also visit the Supreme Court!

Completed applications can be mailed to Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative (P.O. Box 709 Mattoon, IL 61938) and postmarked by February 16, 2026, emailed to ssmith@cmec.coop by February 20, 2026, or dropped off at the CMEC office at 104 Dewitt Ave. East, Mattoon, IL by February 20, 2026.
