What is the Member Celebration & Annual Meeting?
CMEC is required to hold an Annual Meeting for members each year according to our bylaws. This is normally in the fall along with our Member Celebration. Watch for event information in our Grid news, on our webpage, and on Facebook.
What happens at the Member Celebration & Annual Meeting?
This is a day for members to come to the park and meet employees, register for a $25 bill credit, receive a giveaway, pick up a boxed lunch and more. Members can stay for the business meeting or watch it live on Facebook. We welcome questions and feedback from our membership. Registration typically starts at 10 am with the business meeting at 1 pm. For those members who work, we offer early bird registration starting at 6:30 am. Members who register will be entered into a drawing for $100, $250, and $500 bill credit. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for details closer to the event date.
When & where is it held?
This is normally held each fall. This year it will be on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, at Peterson Park in Mattoon.
Do you have to be a member to attend this event?
Yes, this is for our members. A member is welcome to bring a guest or family member(s).
How do I register?
Registration is available in person at the event
Does it cost to attend?
There is no cost for the members to attend the event.
Can I still get a bill credit if I do not attend the event in person?
No, you must attend the event and register in person to get the bill credit. The credit will be on the next bill on one of the member’s accounts following the event. Members who have multiple accounts will only receive one bill credit.
When are board elections held?
CMEC is democratically controlled and holds hybrid elections each year by mail and/or electronic ballot. Each member is mailed/emailed a ballot. There will be no election held if the election is uncontested and/or there are no bylaw amendment proposals for the membership to vote on. The cooperative uses Survey and Ballot Systems (SBS) as a third party to ensure the election process is secure and impartial. The election dates for 2026 have not yet been set. Members will also be able to link to the election website from our page at www.cmec.coop.
What does "uncontested" mean?
Uncontested means there is only one nomination for the open board vacancy, therefore no election is required. Contested means more than one member is running for an open seat on the board resulting in an election so the membership can vote.
Where can I find a copy of the bylaws?
A copy of the current bylaws is available on our webpage HERE or by contacting our office at info@cmec.coop.
What if I am interested in serving on the board?
