Applying for electric service from Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative (CMEC) is very simple. If you live within our service territory, you can apply to become a member/owner of the cooperative. Once that process is complete, we will get your account started.
Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit organization and we are owned by those we serve.
New Services
Members requesting new service that will require construction of line or installation of a meter service on existing poles will need to meet with one of CMEC’s field engineers.
To start this process, please call our office at 217-235-0341 to start the appropriate paperwork. Once completed, an engineer will be in contact with you to continue the process of new service. *Please note that our current turn around time for an engineer to be in contact with you is approximately 2-3 weeks.*
Information needed when applying for a new service will be:

- Application for Membership & Service
- Prospective member’s valid state identification (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Deposit (Amount depends on prospective member’s credit risk assessment obtained by CMEC)
